McKinney Boyd High School - First in Family Endowment in honor of Sandra Shelton

The Sandra Shelton First in Family Scholarship endowment was set forth to provide an opportunity for first generation high school graduates to change the trajectory for their family by eliminating some of the financial burden for students. Mrs. Sandra Shelton, a devoted school counselor, rallied her time and attention to those students who may be the first in their family to graduate high school, let alone attend college. She focused much of her attention to the underserved and underrepresented students who otherwise may just get lost in the shuffle. Not only did she create the First in Family graduation ceremony, her vision expanded to provide students help beyond high school.
